When my uncle who was of German heritage wanted to marry my aunt, her parents from Russia were dead set against it. They knew about the Germans invading Russia and hated anyone German. My uncle proved his father who fled Germany didn't participate in the war. They eventually approved.

People for following orders . People who if they knew each other would be friends taking orders to kill each other by the million , let alone the animal and wildlife tragedies, for `reasons` have got to accept Anarchic teachings as a viable option surely ? I cannot believe we are in the same rabbit hole now with record military spending , tariff barriers raised daily, incompetent governments presiding over climate denying policies with rapidly dwindling natural resources and a toxic press, what could possibly go wrong?

According to TIK, another reason why Hitler invaded Russia was to get their oil in Caucasus. It was his generals who diverted it into conquering Russia by trying to take Moscow. Only after it's stalled, he managed to order them to start the original plan. The oil was a very urgent matter to Germany because at that moment of history, they only had reserve for several month that had to be rationed between civilians and military. While he could keep the supply going by playing nice to Stalin (while Stalin himself also hate the west), his ego refused to become a puppet on Stalin's string.

If either Britain or France had officially declared that it would stay out of a potential War the other would follow suit. With Britain and France out of the War. Russia may have been able to be convinced to stay out too by both Britain and France. So despite both Britain and France not being aggressor states their lack of action guaranteed war.

Oh Dear! Finger pointing history, it's your / their fault! How very Gen Z. Plus solutions by re-iteration and analysis. You want the correct answer to the question, "what were they fighting for?" Envy. Look it up and really understand its motivations. Understand that the word 'emotion' originates in the French word, 'emouvoir', 'to move'. Understand, the influence of 'collective unconsciousness' amongst populations. Understand the psychological relationship between cognition / recognition and emotion. Immediate events are not relevant whilst historians make for very poor psychologists and then fail to comprehend (as the do with WWI) the real nature of historical events. p.s., The name Satan means, 'The Accuser' in Hebrew . He had a field day in 1914 and continues to do so to this day.

24:48 - of course, the saying is a patriotic oversimplification, with an element of truth. One could add many elements to the saying, such as regarding the contributions of partisan and spy networks, the particular patriotism of the Poles (animosity towards the Russians and Germans), and the influence and surreptitious activities of the British, particularly in North Aftica . . . etc.

  • @ulicadluga

22:18 - Surely the Nazi hierarchy, the Propaganda Ministry and the machinery led by the likes of Eichmann and Barbie, relied on a general atmosphere of hate and fear, on the Race Laws, announced in 1935 by Göring, to maintain the power structure that underpinned Hitler's rule. The Nazi suddenly being the "nice guys" would have, in the minds of the leadership, "demoralised" the "Volk".

11:05 - I don't think the taking of Moscow would have demoralised the Russians. Leningrad falling certainly would have been more impactful. The Germans began Operation Barbarossa a few weeks too late. They would have had to reach the oilfields in Baku by the end of 1941, in order to maintain their ever increasing need for fuel. German supply lines were ridiculously stretched. Of course, if the war had lasted into 1946 or 1947, there might have been successful assassination attempts on Hitler. 😅

What are your thoughts looking forward to a nuclear conflict between "the West" and Russia? What options would there be if, as I believe, there wouldn't be a "cease-fire" in such a conflict. Is it likely that, after the destruction of Europe and Western Russia, and after a 20 year nuclear winter, the annihilated Russian State would be incorporated into Europe, that Siberia would become a new "heartland", as envisioned by Hitler? And, most significantly is the Russian State defunct enough (or stupid enough) to allow Putin to risk such an outcome!? Just asking.

  • @ulicadluga
    @ulicadluga День назад

The possibility was clearly there - if a few things had gone differently. If Hitler hadn't invaded Russia, and had concentrated on invading Britain? If Hitler hadn't persecuted the Jews - Jewish scientists? Hitler might have had the atom bomb - but America might have developed it at the same time. In 1947 or 1948, there might have been a serious nuclear war in Europe - limited to around 100K tonne warheads. It might have saved us from a coming 50 Megaton nuclear war!

Russia, always Russia!!! Wherever blood flows, not even in streams, but in wide rivers - Russia is always involved. And not as a white dove of peace... As they say: in politics there are no coincidences, only signs! However, the biggest winner of WWI is the USA. Cui bono, qui prodest - so look up. Meanwhile, NOT A WORD about the role of the USA (and, above all, its benefits) in that war!

There are scenarios where Germany could have won. But they are all based on ..when everything went 200% right. In none of the scenarios there is a room for mistakes. In this is where the problem already is starting. The allies could afford to lose France, russia could afford to lose their whole active army, 80% of their coal.. but they could still win. Germany couldnt afford any mistakes.

Nothing would be the same, but i think if Hitler wasn't anti-jew, Germany could have been in a far greater position. Germany lost a lot of important people due to that policy. And the Jews wouldn't have been in the pockets of Churchill had Hitler not been after them. WW2 may not have happened if GB didn't back Poland, which was one of Churchills ploys to get into war with Hitler. The Poles may have even worked with Germany to go after Russia. And had Hitler been a liberator of the people subdued by Stalin than a conquorer, i think Stalin wouldn't have survived. Of course, all of thise requires Hitler (or whoever leads) to not be angry and would Germany even go after Russia if not for that hatred? Anyway, thanks, Churchill. You suck.

Great video. You should add another perspective on this. Germany had to clean up the mess that the Italians created in NA and the Balkans. If Italy could have taken care of business in these two fronts, Germany wouldn't have needed to intervene, send troops, planes, etc. and therefore could have started Barbarossa much sooner. Having weak allies is a recipe for disaster!

In blaming Germany, you might want to consider that France attacked and marched through Germany (and its predecessor Germanic states) four times in the previous centuries: two Franco-Prussian wars and two Napoleonic wars. Germany had started no wars. Germany had every reason to fear unprovoked French aggression and to act preemptively. Germany asked Britian to withdraw its support in the case of renewed French aggression. The British showed their typical stiff upper life. They could well have prevented this war. (For the record, I was born in England and am a British subject. My family lives in Germany and I have German citizenship as well.)

The problem with the idea of "Germany avoiding war with America" is America was already at war with Germany. FDR was one of the main instigators of the entire war all the way back before 1939. While publicly insisting he was trying to prevent war, he was in truth doing all he could to encourage it. He had American navy escorting British Empire (an empire which was gigantic compared to modern UK) shipping & had ordered American naval warships to open fire upon German vessels whenever they were encountered regardless as to whether or not German vessels had opened fire. In other words, America was waging offensive warfare upon Germany while lying publicly that we were "neutral." Oh yeah, & avg Americans didnt know about how we were attacking German vessels everywhere we could do so without prying eyes. Then there's America rearming the British & sending them enormous resources all while also encouraging American military airmen to "volunteer" to fight w/the British. Our supposed "neutrality" was a total sham. It's now known for sure that much of FDR's administration were literally working for Stalin. FDR himself was a closeted communist & it's well documented that he deeply adored Stalin almost to the point of it being some sort of bizarre fetish. FDR is the one who gave the USSR perceived legitimacy globally. In 1933, a year after the Bolsheviks killed millions in Ukraine, the Germans put Hitler in power? Think that was a coincidence? And that same year, FDR gave the Soviet Union legal recognition & normalized ties with them. The writing on the wall was pretty clear to any realistic German paying attention not deluded by false hope. Also, had the Germans invaded the USSR months earlier, it wouldve probably been a total catastrophe a lot earlier on than happened in real life b/c there were massive floods that wouldve probably caused the Germans to have failed to advance as far as they did. And finally, the idea the Germans should have left something like 700,000 red army troops in their rear to go try to conquer + occupy Moscow is absurd. That's like saying that the USSR shouldve just let the original 6th army remain in Stalingrad while the main armies of the USSR plow forward to go try to occupy Warsaw or even Berlin. And that original 6th army was far smaller & in a worse predicament in this scenario than the Soviet army groups had been before the Battle of Kiev 1941. You'll note that the red army did not try to advance extremely far away from Stalingrad before the German 6th Army had been wiped out. The fact is that even though it was a shattered formation, the surrounded 6th Army's continued existence + resistance is the only reason the Germans were able to withdraw successfully from the Caucuses...and at this time the Soviets thought that the encircled German forces in Stalingrad were smaller than they actually were! So, the brilliant sounding idea of Hitler avoiding the 1941 summer pause & shift to wipe out the Soviet army groups around Kiev to go rush to Moscow isnt so brilliant when you think of it. There's a very interesting + revealing exchange between Heinz Guderian & Hitler in 1945 concerning Hungary. Wise Guderian said that they must withdraw from this region of Hungary so as to make a "tactical retreat" so as to "gain freedom of operation"...sounds great, huh? Hitler's response? "Great idea Guderian! So you've got tanks that can run without gasoline!? If we make this withdrawal, we lose our last big source of oil. How are you going to 'have freedom of action' without that!?" Naturally, whenever confronted by unpleasant realities like this, German generals would usually respond by saying things like, "that's not my concern mein Fuhrer. I am only concerned with military tactics." The Soviets could afford to withdraw, their geography allowed it & even if they did lose access to critical resources, they had occupied Iran and they had America's sham neutrality "lend lease/arsenal of demockeracy"

They needed to avoid wars on 5 different fronts. Western Europe, Africa, Scandinavia, Russia, and eventually Italy. They spread their resources too thin and Japan made the mistake of Pearl Harbor. Had they held the US out of the war another year they could have held France, stopped trying to take the UK and instead focused on Russia.

War was lost after winter of 43. Russia had rebuilt it's factories on the east side of the urals. they were building t-34 tanks at 1300/month. they had designed and were building planes on par with german planes. they could fight in the winter, germany couldn't. Battle of Kursk in summer of 43 proved the war would be a long effort consuming massive amount of material and men which was a war the USSR could fight and wanted to fight and was a war Germany couldn't fight.

You forgot another important fact. Not attacking the UK (And of course capturing the british troops in Dunkirk). It would have saved Hitler some 30-35% of the Luftwaffe's planes and many of the best pilots (including fuel as welll). Could easily have been the tipping point and they could have attacked Russia earlier even with the delay due to Mussolini and also kept some kind of leverage for diplomacy vs USA (After all many were against communism in the senate and Japan was enemy with Germany in WWI in addition to your point about no cooperation)The lost air supremacy already in the battle of Smolensk 8th of august 1941. Other than that spot on this! Quite surprising that so many, even so called experts, overlook the adavantge Hitler could have had treating the Ukraines and the Belarussians as allied instead of "untermensch".
